Robert Stuart Middle School Parents:
Thank you for reaching out and for sharing your thoughtful concerns regarding the implementation of cinch bags at Robert Stuart Middle School. We want to assure you that we take parent input seriously and appreciate your advocacy for student success.
The decision to move forward with cinch bags was made by our Building Leadership Team (BLT) after considering several factors. The BLT is made up of 20 staff members with representatives from each grade level and each department. The team focuses on school improvement and student success.
That said, we recognize the concerns you've raised and understand the impact this change may have on students and families.
At this time, we will hold off on students using cinch bags for this school year. However, we still encourage our students to use lockers.
Thank you again for taking the time to share your perspective.

It’s spa time for our hallways! They’re enjoying a peaceful break from clanging lockers, unidentifiable smells, and overhearing awkward hormone-infused conversations. They love being pampered with a fresh coat of paint and hanging out with classroom furniture while rooms are being cleaned. And, of course, they love a good floor wax! (If anyone has an idea how to get middle schoolers to not scrape the walls as they walk by, let us know-it’s the number one thing our hallways complain about!)

Over 2500 years ago, Pythagoras said, "Number rules the universe.” Well, numbers and creativity ruled this fun project a couple of weeks ago at Stuart. Our 6th Graders created a Surface Area Zoo in math class. The students used various shapes to create their animals. Once they were finished, they measured their animals and found the surface area. Shout out to Mrs. Hall and Mrs. Wayment for this hands-on project! Lots of cardboard was cut, folded, and painted. Let's take a stroll through the zoo to see some of the animals.

It's time to memorialize the awkward moments (and pictures) of middle school. Purchase a yearbook in the office before we sell out. Students will receive yearbooks on Wednesday.

From ditto machines to overhead projectors, from chalkboards to whiteboards, Mr. Gentry has decided that 40 years of being an educator is enough. To honor him, our theme for What’s Up Wednesday (aka secret staff spirit day) was “Dress Like Gentry” day.” (If you aren’t fortunate to know who he is, he’s the distinguished guy standing in front of the bear.) Happy retirement Mr. Gentry!
