TFSD to Offer Counseling Sessions for all Students

The Twin Falls School District is excited to announce a new partnership aimed at addressing student mental health and supporting families in our community. Starting in September, the TFSD will be offering the Student and Family Assistance Program (SFAP) through BPA Health for every student.

This offering includes five counseling sessions for each student and their families. These sessions are free to the student and family members and are solution-focused, allowing students to reduce problems that interfere with their academic success. The BPA Health program offers in-person counseling as well as virtual appointments so that families can access the help they need in a timely manner.

“As a school system we must find ways to support the whole child if we truly want our students to reach their full potential,” said Dr. Brady Dickinson. “In some cases, this means providing assistance to families who are dealing with mental health and wellness.”

Additionally, the SFAP features a crisis hotline 24 hours a day and 7 days a week for families and individuals who need immediate assistance. And, the BPA Health program offers additional support services including a variety of topics from legal advice to financial planning.

“We are thrilled to be able to offer this resource to students, families, and the Twin Falls community. As a parent and a business leader, I know how much mental health can affect a student's ability to thrive in the classroom. The more we can provide spaces for young people and their families to easily and readily access support, the healthier and stronger our communities will be.” said Sarah Woodley, CEO BPA Health

District administrators hope that families utilize the many resources available to them. Additional information will be made available to families about how they can access this benefit starting September 1 when the program commences.
