We have been notified that an individual who attended Robert Stuart Middle School on November 12 has been confirmed to have COVID-19. We want families with children who attend Robert Stuart Middle School to be aware, however, most children in the building have had minimal to no exposure. Based on the current scientific evidence, simply being in the same room or building as someone who has COVID-19 does not significantly increase the risk of catching COVID-19. In this instance, the individual did not attend school while they were symptomatic. Our staff members have been diligent about taking safety precautions recommended by our local health officials to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19. Families with children who have had moderate or high exposure to the student with the confirmed case will be contacted by phone and email.
With that being said, please talk with your child about their health and continue to monitor them for symptoms of COVID-19. These include:
- Fever or chills
- Cough
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Fatigue
- Muscle or body aches
- Headache
- New loss of smell or taste
- Sore throat
- Congestion or runny nose
- Nausea or vomiting
- Diarrhea
We will continue to promote social distance between our students and complete the daily sanitation of the building. The symptoms of COVID-19 can take an extended period of time to appear so please continue to practice good hygiene and monitor your child’s health. If your child develops symptoms, contact your physician and keep them home from school. If you do not feel comfortable sending your child to school, please contact the school principal for more information about what distance learning resources can be made available for your child.
