The Twin Falls School District Board of Trustees is pleased to announce Ryan Ellsworth as the Principal for the soon to open South Hills Middle School. The new administrator was approved at the school board meeting that was held Monday, Dec. 12, at 7 p.m. at Canyon Ridge High School.
Ellsworth currently serves as the Principal at Jerome Middle School since 2013, and before that, he served as the Jerome Middle School Assistant Principal and Athletic Director. Ellsworth started his teaching career in Fruitland where he taught 3rd grade. Ellsworth received his teaching degree from Boise State University and a degree in educational leadership from Northwest Nazarene University.
“I am most excited to open a new school and be a part of the community in Twin Falls,” said Ellsworth. “I see many exciting things happening in Twin Falls, and as much as I love Jerome, I am excited about the new opportunity.”
South Hills Middle School is the newest school building to open in the Twin Falls School District. These new school buildings were funded by the $73.8 million bond levy approved by the community in March of 2014. Rock Creek and Pillar Falls elementary schools, the other two schools constructed with bond funding, opened in the fall of 2016.
During the winter of the 2015-16 school year, a committee of parents, students, and community members developed a plan to reconfigure the TFSD middle school attendance zones. Ellsworth will now be working with other district teams to make staffing choices and other important decisions in preparation for the upcoming school year.
